Sulfur Smell and Loud Exhaust o 94 XE 4x4

Great forum!! I have already learned a lot from your posts!! I have a 1994 Nissan Pickup, XE 4x4, V-6. The truck has 85,000 miles. When I bought it a few weeks ago it needed a Catalytic Converter. I had that replaced along with a good deal of the exhaust system. I also had the O2 sensor replaced. I still have 2 problems. The truck is quiet at idle, but sounds real loud when I hit the gas, like it has a racing exhaust system. The acceleration is not the best. Is this common for aftermarket exhaust replacement? I also still have the sulfur smell althought it is not as bad as it was. Could I have a bad exhaust manifold? I am going to replace the fuel filter and the plugs today. I would greatly appreciate any ideas. THANKS!!!

On my 92 there is a resonator after the regular muffler. I was told that this didn't necessarily need to be used(muffler and then exhaust pipe straight to the back). That 'bugger' was still pretty loud when I got done so I added an inexpensive 'Cherry bomb' muffler where the resonator had been. That too care of the noise to my satisfaction anyway. It still retained a very subdued' ricer' sound. But not anywhere near as noisy as those'ricer paint cans'.

Not really. I guess my only thought would be was the c converter installed correctly. Like backwards.

Was the manifold and all its bolts/studs checked over for any problems?

Brand new catalytic converters all make a sulfur smell. It's totally normal. Most folks call it a rotten egg smell. It will mostly go away with normal use.
