lately ive noticed that when i turn left/right sometimes i hear this clunking noise coming from my truck. It doesnt happen all the time but now its gettin kinda loud. And sometimes im not even turning the wheel all the way. I recently replaced the Tires to 27/850/R14 from 215/75/14. But i made sure i didnt go too big so that they would rub. And i also recently replaced all 4 Shocks. maybe a torsion bar or something is loose?
i replaced my front right axle two days ago but it wasnt clicking it wasnt that joint it was the other joint or whatever its called the part that just spins...
I doubt the guy's whole rear axle just "broke". A 2wd truck doesn't have any CV shafts to break. It sounds like it might be a wheel bearing that's gone bad, or possibly something that's loose in the front suspension. If you can give us some more detail, that would be great.
turns out the mechanic said it was my rear shacker bearings that were shot. they need to be replaced so i ordered 8 of them from nissan. $40 bucks but 2 hours labour to do em. dont have equipment myself otherwise i would do it. hopefully its just the bearings tho nothing wrong with leaf springs i hope. thanks
My wife and I have three Nissan trucks, an 86.5, a 93 and a 95, All two wheel drives and all have made the same noises... The clunking noise could very well be the shackle bushings and I have replaced them on the 95 and 93, debating on the 86.5. I have found a good source for the bushings, a kit of six sets, both springs for about fifty bucks.... Also all three make a clunking - grinding noise on some sharp turns. found this to be the steering stops that prevent the wheel from turning too far in either direction. On our 86.5 the left stop broke off and now it turns a tighter radius to the right! Tire ware is the biggest issue with this one!
i have a bed full of cable , ladder racks , and a 28 foot fiberglass ladder on my hardbody and it does the same thing... the 90 i have did it and the 94 does too... its that the leaf spring shackle bushing? cuz thats what i figured.. ill probabally end up replacing the shocks with a heavy duty gas charged shock. rancho or something heavy duty... no air shox they suck ass. gas charged shox are the best.. if you can fiund kayaba's they are the best in my opinion. i run those on my gmc and it hugs corners and the rear end is real stiff with minimal sway. although it does have a rear sway bar. id like to put one on mine.
Hey, when the ruck is sitting, have a helper push the front end to the right and left to attempt to recreate the sound. The simply go across the front end part by part til you find it. I had a coworker that had the same problem. We found loose bolts on the lower frame crossmember (between the lower control arms) that was left by a previous mechanic.
