Well i was having a little bit of fun in my Xterra today, just seeing what i could do, and I was trying to scale this one steep dirt hill, almost made it, but then it started to roll back down the hill, when i caught back to level ground, i noticed that my engine was off. Anybody know why this happened?

If you were in Drive the whole time, you probably rolled the vehicle back enough for it to kill the engine. If you put it in Neutral or Reverse before you rolled back, it shouldn't have died, unless you were at an extreme angle for a long time with less than half a tank of gas or something like that. Engine stall can happen pretty easily with a carbureted engine, but I suppose you could still have that problem with fuel injection if you hang it on the hill for long enough with a sufficiently low level in the tank.
