I have a slow oil drip, and the mechanic say it is coming from behind the timeing chain cover.

Does anyone have experience with this type of repair?

Oh, it is a 1988 SE-V6 King Cab with 189K.

Offhandedly, I'd say you need to take off the timing cover, replace the chain and maybe the tensioner, then put the cover back on with new gaskets. Takes a while, but isn't all THAT hard. That should fix it unless something is cracked or damaged.
