you mean the CVT (continuous Variable Transmission)...its a belt pulley system..not a traditional transmission with gears...better gas mileage...smoooooth...

Ya I know but it feels weird compared to my maxima. And ya the gas milage is incrdible. The car is like at 2000-2500 rpms at like 80 on the highway and it pretty much hold it there all the way up the to 80.

Just a little different is what I am saying (not use to it)

It goes either way...some like the CVT because it runs so smooth and for an SUV, gets awesome gaes mileage; however others complain that the CVT takes away from the nice 3.5L V6 engine under the hood that 04 Maxima's have....
Just keep an eye out for the alternator did you buy it new? If you don't mind me asking, how much? wife's looking to buy one and the ones i've seen are about $33k or so...for an SL AWD...

We got one for 31,500 with eveything except the AWD. There is a problem with the AWD if you replace only one tire.

The AWD can shift almost all the power to one wheel and if you hava a few miles on a st of tire and have to replace the tire the system wants to compensate for the high tread on the new wheel and pre-maturly wears the drivetrane.

So don't get the AWD.

wow good to know....from what I've read up the Murano is a FWD system shifting up to 50% of its power to the rear 2 tires when it needs..and the 18" tires are NOT cheap..heh...

plus i'm sure you won't need AWD where you live?
