1998 Pathfinder - Need new shocks/struts - Suggestions?

Hello. I've done a search on this forum, and found lots of great information. I was wondering if anyone had any new or updated comments on what their opinions would be for replacement shocks/struts on a 1998 Pathfinder.

I just spent $750 replacing the rear links due to the infamous bushing problem on the Pathfinders. My Pathfinder has 96k miles. Doing that, the mechanic also recommended that I replace the stock shocks/struts, saying that they're extremely worn out. He quoted a price of approx. $475 front / $275 rear for "competition" KYB shocks/struts - includes install and alignment.

I've noticed some members posting info/preferences for the Ranchos or Bilsteins. Looks like some folks are getting a much better deal on the install rates. I'm in San Francisco, so prices tend to be a little higher.

I'm looking for a ride similar to stock. I have never taken my Pathfinder off road, and don't think I ever will. Mainly a city driver, but the roads here can be crap so it seems like I'm off roading. I wouldn't mind a little stiffer ride to be a bit more like a car in the corners.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
