Cheap mods for 85 720 Z24

Hey all. I'm driving a 1985 Z24 pickup, 5-speed. It's fun to drive and all but, are there any mods I can do to make it a bit faster that won't break the bank?

simplest things to do would be exhaust and intake, a low restriction exhaust system ( cat back) should help as would switching the air filter to a K&N type filter or making a completely new air intake.

Don't really wanna do an exhaust job. I don't want it to sound ricerish. I'll look into the K&N filter though. thanks!

Good lubrication in the case and down the line does a little to help matters. I personally use Mobil1, but I hear Redline is as good or better. I use Bosch Platinum plugs, some swear by 'em, some swear at 'em. They are 2.49 a piece and you would need 8. $2.49*8=ouch Nah, NGK's will work fine! They run about 1.39 per.

you don't have to do a complete exhaust if you don't want to, replacing the factory muffler with anyone of the numerous aftermarket free flow mufflers would probably help out, I don't think replacing the muffler or doing a cat back would make it sound ricey. replacing the fluids with synthetics is also a very good idea didn't think of that last night.

What's a freeflow muffler gonna cost me and which one should I get? As it sits the exhaust probably has so many holes in it, it IS freeflow :PPP
