Question Love the truck, and...

So first off, I just wanna say how much I love my pickup. I bought an 86 pickup off ebay a few months ago. Fixed it up a bit, and then proceeded to drive it from Oregon to North Carolina, and then to Florida pulling a loaded down U-Haul trailer the whole way. I gotta say, even though I was down to second gear and 25 mph a few times through the Rockies, what a great little truck. Never had one problem with it the whole trip, and it pulled that trailer like a champ...

Now, on to my question... Where can I get the tailgate handle and latch assembly? The tailgate handle is broken and I'd rather replace it, then find a new tailgate... Any ideas? Thanks!

I might be getting a truck from ebay, did everything run smoothly for you, I am feeling alittle untrustworthy of wiring my money and having a truck shipped.

You are either the worlds greatest automotive mechanic or the luckiest man alive. OR to NC to FL with a trailer? In an 18 year old truck? Wow.... You failed to add what you paid for it, but I am sure you got your money's worth.

my tailgate handle is broken too. the back plate for the handle is off on mine (came that way) and i have to pull real hard on the left bar to get the tailgate open..it's a pain in the ass but i haven't had the money to order one right now..it's not really on my list of things to buy for my truck right now.

How smart am I, I buy the truck on ebay and don't even think to look there for the handle. Anyways, I am probably damn lucky. The guy I bought it from thought that it had a blown head gasket. I got it home, took it apart a little, and couldn't find anything wrong. I flushed the coolant, refilled it, and tuned it up (oil change, filters, plugs, plug wires, etc). I put two straight front fenders on it, replaced the front bumper, cleaned it up, and put some new tires and wheels on it. Including what I paid for the truck, all my parts, and the tires, I've got less than a thousand in the truck. It ain't the prettiest thing, but I love it...
