Anyone know of anyone selling a 95 4x4 king cab with the V6 and a 5 speed tranny let me know,( 95 was the last year of the V6 in the D-21 body style right?) closer to florida the better. My 87 hardbody is long gone and I need a new truck figured I'd try to find another hardbody or a toyota but I have 14 years experience with the nissan so most likely I'll get another one. I know the biggest pain in the a-- with the nissans has always been a lack of aftermarket support but it seems that there are plenty of parts available now. I actually found a really nice looking truck a 95 with a 2001 supercharged V6 in it but it's in Arizona and the guy is asking $9000 . so I'm still looking, Thanks , Tony (hardbody)
I'm not sure what the D21 body style is. The Nissan pickup of '95 was the same style up to '97, no change in the body style that I know of until '98 when the Frontier line came out.

There are always some Nissans in there. Lots of them in Ga, I don't recall any in Florida.
Most of the ads are for dealers.

Correct, the VG30E was available only through 1995. 1996 and 1997 are KA24E only.

Thanks, that's what I thought, that 95 was the last year with the V6 in this body style, the D21 body is the nissan code for the hardbody body style, before 86 1/2 they were the 720, and I believe the frontiers are D22's (not positive about the frontiers).
OK, learn something every day on this forum.
So, does a '96 or '97 4 wheel drive with 4 cylinder have self locking hubs?
An SE model does, yes. I think any XE has manual hubs. Perhaps auto hubs were an option on the XEs. But the SE had auto hubs standard, even though the 4-cylinder was the only available engine.
And yes, you do learn something new every day. I didn't know there was no V6 option in 1998. I thought the VG33E came out with the '98 Frontier, but I guess it wasn't until '99. I can't believe Nissan did without a V6 truck for THREE model years!
I have a 94 V-6 SE 4x4 but it is an automatic. 105k on the odometer, uses no oil, gets 23mpg on the highway, limited slip rear end, 31x10.5x15 Timberlines, tinted windows, factory sunroof (no leaks), bedliner, bed cover, black, bucket seats, cd player, etc etc. The wife is wanting a car (go figure?!?!?) so I have thought about getting rid of the Nissan (even though I dont want to). These trucks arent as easy to come by as one would think either.
So Nissan didn't make the 4x4 in 6 cyl. in 96 or 97.
I have been looking for a 6 cylinder 4x4 from 96 and 97.
I thought they were mighty scarce, seemed like every one I found was a 4 cylinder.

Yes, they would be mighty scarce -- non-existent in fact! They say the VG30E was a poor engine in terms of emissions, and Nissan didn't want to invest the money to clean it up -- since they intended to redesign the engine into the VG33E to come out with the Frontier. I heard that they were forced to drop the engine or clean it up. Is it a coincidence that OBD-II also was incorporated in 1996? I don't know. All I do know is 1995 was the last model year for the VG30E. All '96 and '97 trucks (and '98 also apparently) are 4-cylinders.
That would make a 4x4 SE automatic one of the slowest trucks in the world probably, with the 4-cylinder engine and auto hubs.

That is very likely. Had a buddy put 38x12.50s on a 4 cyl Mazda. It was slow, but it did run. He installed A/C and you had to turn it off to get the truck to move. That qualifies as my slowest. When it was stock, it ran great.
