I paid $4500 for my 96 SE KA24 manual
had 96K and a reskinned king cab portion passenger side (although i didn't catch this till after we shook hands and ran the vin# - was clean.) Truck Looks and drives great with NO wacky 4x4 noises. This is the SE package with premium sound (if you could call it that) and Limited Slip Diff. which seems to engage whenever it wants to despite my adding several different kinds of goo that i found in the local auto stores and changin the fluids twice in 100mi for sh*ts and giggles to see if i could get it to engage somewhere other than on clean dry pavement where it isn't necessary. Now it happily chews up my lawn without hesitation. Bosch plugs run great. I changed the ones that came with it out because i thought the acceleration seemed anemic and found......Bosch plugs. New plugs made it better Guess the NGK people have a point -thank you sutra-. Full synthetic fluid change in trans and diffs ( wow the engine oil was clean but those diferentials were full of metal and grime ) the manual transmission got fresh mobile 1 synthetic and i found that nissan had the good sense to place a large magnet on the drain plug. My honda dosn't. Neither does my AMC or my fathers Dodge truck or the Isuzu truck or.... yeah. The check engine light comes on EVERY 750 miles and STAYS on for 250 miles (this hypothesis formed after 2000 miles) and throws a 440 code related to the evaporator system. My gas mileage drops down 5mpg. The Nissan dealer tells me that related technical service bulletin NTB97074B or whatever -which is a valid voluntary recall for this truck- is not a valid recall for this truck and wants money. I went to autozone and got it read for free. shut it off one time and after 50 miles it came back on. The front left brake squeeks during forward travel. Good truck though. I love the overall quality. Great price. Best buy I could find for my money.
From one newbie to another. Unless this seller has some sort of aftermarket rig like an SR20 motor swap or great professional lift it isn't worth it and you might try haggleing. The Taco Truck barely fetches that price around Mid-Ohio. Look at completed listings on eBay to see what others are paying.
