lsd for 94 hardbody

I was just wondering if a limited slip rear end was an option on the 94 model and if not, what other model years with this type or rear end would be compatible. thanks in advance.

Just a common sense lesson learned; 2wd in snow=fun, 2wd on ice=bad idea. Consider self one lucky mother_____.

I'm sure it was. I know it was in 1995, and I'm sure other years were similar. LSD was optional on XE-V6 models only, and standard on SE-V6 models only. Both of these trucks (and MOST all the 4x4 Hardbodies in the 1990s) came with the H233B axle.

In addition, the 5-sp V6 trucks had 4.375:1 gearing, which is also what the 5-sp I4 trucks got (in 1995). The automatic V6 trucks got 4.625:1 gearing. If you have a 4x4 model, you'll need to match the LSD axle to your gear ratio, or also change the gears in the front diff to match the LSD axle. So basically, an LSD axle from a 5-sp V6 truck should be a simple swap (depending on some gear ratio changes that might have occured different model years). Anything else might be the wrong gear ratio.

thanks, and sorry to ask again due to my failure to be more specific. My truck is a 4 cyl 5 spd. does the same info apply or might i have issues with it only being a v6 option? Thanks again.

Look at your door jamb decal, under "axle". If it says HG43, it's the H233B axle, 4.375 gears. This means you need to look for an LSD axle from a truck with an HG43 axle, which in 1995, that was only the V6 5-sp trucks (not automatics).

If it's a 4cyl 4x2, then I think the only option is a Detroit Locker, which if you do alot of off-roading is awesome. Call me if you want to discuss it further.

Appreciate the info. I will check this out. GregV, other than a slightly modified intake and after market wheels&tires, my truck is no offroad vehicle, though I try it sometimes, ground clearance is an issue which I have yet to deal with. Have pondered suspension lifts for a while. Still thinking. Thanks again.

AFAIK they did not install a LSD for the 2WD 4-cylinders at all. Sorry.
