My 94 king cab w/2.4 has been running too cool. Bought a thermostat at Napa ( looks like a regulare thermostat) but can't find the where it goes?
There is no housing at the engine side of the upper hose. The lower hose has no thermostat housing as far as I can see. Pulled the lower hose asns stuck a screw driver up there almost to the water pump , and felt no thermostat in there either...

Is it supposed to be IN the hose?

It should be connected to the block of the engine right next to the upper raditior hose.

found it! What a PITA!
It is a 90 degree housing and you must remove the power steering pump pulley to get to the bolts. Even then, even a contortionist is gonna scrape some knuckles.

Replaced the stat with one form napa. It leaked like a seive as soon as I started to fill the radiator. The oem stat has a shoulder on it so that it fits sort of inside the housing. After market doesn't.

Nearest Nissan dealer- 50 miles.
