electrical problems headlights stay on dim?

Headlights stay on low lit when swtch is off,
I recently became the owner of a 93 pathfinder suv, picked it up for nothing, due to an electrical problem draining the battery constantly,
now I am troubleshooting the problem, my question to all is this
The headlights at times remain on and dimly lit when the switch is off
is there a day running mode for the lights on this model or is the switch
defective? I don't have the owners manual so I thought I would ask about
it here rather than research at the local library, any comments or
simillar situations to share? thanks

I've had two Nissan pickups do exactly what you are describing. I cured it by leaving the turn signal switch pushed forward into the high beam mode. The cause of the trouble is a bad multi-function switch. That would be the turn signal/headlight/high beam/flash-to-pass switch. It's probably rather expensive from Nissan and leaving the switch in the high beam mode is free so... You can guess which option I chose.

If that turns out to be the problem, it's not too terribly expensive new...

Cool! It's still cheaper to just leave the switch in the high beam position though.
