Mine was a ball joint. Any reputable alignment shop should be able to sort it out for ya. After going through a turn, I would have to hit a bump for the steering wheel to stop shaking. It could also be an idler arm, a tie rod end, or a tire out of balance. Good Luck

Most likely balance and unfortunately you can get the wheels balanced a million times and unless you go to a place with a flange plate adapter they will never balance right. Nissan has a TSB out for this and any Nissan dealer should have the right balance adapter. Most balancers mount the wheel to the machine with a cone through the hub opening, to get a good balance for your pathfinder you need to mount the wheel to the machine with the lugs (lugcentric wheels). Without that type of adapter you will never get a true balance.
The second part of the TSB was to check the sliding force in the steering, many were too low and needed to be increased.
The main symptom of this is a side to side shimmy of the steering wheel in the 60-70mph range, on mine it would go away above 70mph.

Did balancing correct your problem???
Also this seems to be intermittent, it would have the shimmy then I would slow down to a stop, then go to 60 and it would start to shimmy after being at 60 for 5 min.
Doesn't happen continously every time as soon as I hit 60mph.
I would expect if the balance was a problem it would happen all the time, instantly at that speed. I replaced the struts, it was worse before the struts were replaced. What would cause this to be intermittent????
The TSB specifically states that this type of problem can be intermittent as the front wheels change phase with respect to each other when making turns.
