LubeGuard (auto trans additive)?

Looking for feedback about the automatic transmission additive called LubeGuard?

I found two types (grey and red bottles) at the local NAPA store, so I want sure which one to use.

The first was a friction-modifier that listed a few vehicle manufacturers on the label. The second didn't mention any manufacturers, but claimed to reduce temperature, etc...

Does anyone know the differences between the two?

Are they snakeoil?

Thanks!

In my opinion, yes. All the lubrication your transmission needs is contained in a quart (or 4 or 5) of Dexron III, or whatever yours takes. Transmission fluid requires no additives whatsoever to completely lubricate and protect your transmission. The same goes with motor oils. No need for the conditioners or "stabilizers". They may very well work as advertised, but they're extraneous products...not needed. To me, kind of like using the entire bottle of car wash concentrate when you only need a few cap-fulls. It probably won't hurt anything, but not really necessary either.

My $0.02...

Nah they ain't snakeoil, it probly works worse than that . But seriously its probly a little bit of dexron V (better than whats in it now ands its used to make their friction reduction and temperature claims accurate even if it only reduces the temp by .1 deg it still is reducung it.) and alot of thickening agent with a potpuri of chemicals and colors to make it look as though its something else. As is the case with fuel injector and engine treatments which are both dexron 3 with other stuff added to fool those not knowledgeable about these things. If you want to make a drastic improvement in your transmission then add some dex 5 or synthetic atf to your tanny or change all the atf with it for greater performance and protection.
