hey everyone,
My buddy just bought an 88 nissan 720 pickup Se-V6 an the tach only occasionaly flips on for a second. Most of the time during normal driving it sits at 0 rpm but if you rev the engine it will jump for a split second up to about 4000 rpm. Anyone had this problem before? any suggestions for fixing it?
Thats what is wrong with my moms topaz but she don't use it so i don't bother to fix it. The first thing I would do is check the wiring for shorts and that it is grounded well. Then check the wire sending the signal to the tach for voltage, if its gettin juice amd grouned but it dont work then its broke you can probly easily find one at a junkyard to replace it. An 88 720? are you sure as far as I know an 88 was the D21 model. Make sure you got the right year/model.
