Nissan truck mixture adjustment

I have a 1995 Nissan XE pickup with the 4-cylinder enginer. I'm living at 6000ft above sea level now my mixture is running extra rich.

Where's the screw to lean it out, or am I looking at an IC chip or overpriced sensor?

If i were you I'd first check to make sure that your computer isn't giving a code which would cause it to run rich like if the O2 sensor(s) is/are bad. Just my .02 But I can give you the instructions on how to do it but no pics (they help) cause this computer sux!

If your truck is running extra rich because of the altitude, it means there's a problem somewhere. The vehicle is equipped with a Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF sensor). This sensor measures the mass of the air that passes through it, and supplies fuel to the engine accordingly. The engine will run near stochiometric (usuallly between 14:1 and 15:1) whether you're at 10,000 feet or sea level. There is no adjustment for the mixture (and none is needed).

Is your check engine light on? It may indicate a problem. The check engine light should light when you turn the key to ON. If it doesn't light, the bulb may be out or there may be another problem with your computer.

1995 xe running rich

The check engine light does occasionally come on. Does this imply dealership for diagnostic check?

How do you check for codes & sensors? The check engine light does occasionally pop on but I only worry about oil pressure and temperature.

I miss carbureators.

I also avoid dealership shops like the plague unless I'm buying factory parts.

My B

jadcock is right there isn't a way to adjust the fuel mixture I saw fuel injection system adjustments in my haynes manual but didn't read further the adjustment is for the fast idle control device (FICD) which has nothing to do with the fuel mixture. Also if its an auto trans there may be a power shift switch on the gear shift and I have been known to bump mine on a few times and waste a bit of gas going down the road when it wasn't needed. Make sure the power shift is in the auto setting if yours is so equipped. Good Luck with finding your problem!

Scanning for codes

No the dealership isn't required for you to check the codes all you have to do is find your computer mine is underneath my pasenger side seat (which I remove for easy access).after wraming up the engine turn it off and turn the key to the on position and find the little hole on the side of the computer its the diagnostic mode selector theres a little bolt inside with a notch for a flat head turn that fully clockwise and after at least two seconds turn the selector fully counter clockwise count the number of red flashes and the number of green flashes before is pauses and then repeats the code . besure to write down the number of red flashes followed by the number of green code 55 is not fault code detected (in the haynes manual but I think on mine code 44 is the everything is ok code). search on here and you will find the trouble code chart. I really don't wanna be a type R BTW a haynes manual is the best book for your buck when it comes to fixing your own rig.
