Took my 95 Nissan truck (2wd) in for oil change. They found that rear differential was low and was milky with water. They was many chewed up particles of metal on the plug and in the fluid. Manual transmission fluid was low and was topped up. They also noticed that the rear differential is leaking slowly. Should I replace the oil gasket? How often should one change the tranny and diff. fluids? I'm buying new tires, what are the best all-season tires that are good for hauling but decent in light snow, slush and rain. Thanks for your help

If your rear differential is the style with a cover on the rear, it'd be very easy to change the gasket. If it's the style with a solid backside, with a center section that bolts in from the front, it would be a little more involved to change the gasket.
For tires, I love the Michelin LTX M/S tires. They're a light truck all season tire and they do great in slushy snow. We had lots of it in the mountains of Virginia, and they did great. I have a set on mine that are at least 4 years old and they've wore fantastic and have a LOT of life left on them. If I have to replace them, it'll be with the same tire, the Michelin LTX M/S.

When I had my 95 Hardbody, I ran the Dunlop tires. The OEM kind. They did great for all year. Never had any problems with them and I only had to replace the tire once on my 95 before I got my 02 Frontier. I had done loads of driving from Eastern NC all the way up to Mass. both in summer and winter and never had any problems in snow, mud or anything. My 95 had 130K on it. Replaced the clutch @ 100K and had the Transmission, rear diff, engine cooliant all replaced between every 50K - 60K.
