You can easily install a 3" body lift on a HB or Pathfinder with the auto tranny. The PA people simply didn't do their homework. The tranny is shifted via cable and there is more than enough room for a 3" lift. Mine has been on for the last 5 years and is still working just fine.
A suspension lift will put more stress on the front end than if you left it stock, but the stock setup is still not the best or strongest system in the world. If you drive it on the road sensibly 99% of the time, a suspension lift will have no noticeable effect on front end components. However, if you install bigger tires, offroad the hell out of it, neglect the parts that do start to get loose or damaged, expect stuff to start breaking.
