98 Nissan PU dash board lights on

I have a 1998 Nissan Automatic Pickup truck. The following lights on the dashboard have come on and I need to know what to do, short of going to the dealer and paying a lot of money. We are on Social Security and don't have a lot of money. The truck still runs good .
.......oil.....brakes.....and engine trouble light (I think it is) On the engine trouble light, it happens whenever I get gas and don't turn the gasoline tank knob many times.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
dee

P.S. The brakes work fine, have plenty of brake fluid, and oil is okay, battery fully charged.

The Check Engine light will come on if you don't tighten the gas cap enough, yes. There is a sensor inside the fuel filler/tank system that detects whether the fuel system is leaking vapors or not. If the cap isn't tightened enough, the sensor will sometimes indicate that the fuel system is leaking vapors, which triggers the Check Engine light. I don't really know on your Brake light or your Oil light. Check connections to the oil pressure sensor and the ABS sensor in the rear. A broken or loose connector will do that to you.

Oil light is likely no oil or low oil pressure. It happens when you do not do proper maintenance to it. The brake warning light is likely due to low fluid levels because of worn front brake pads. It happens to mine all the time just before I have to replace the front pads. However, it could also be due to a bad electrical connection or a frayed wire. I have the highest mileage Frontier on these forums (That I know of) at 215,000. Mine is alo one of the most abused Frontiers as well since it has always been a pizza delivery vehicle and has been used to tow cars with, rallied on dirt roads and drag raced at the local track. It's been jumped, power shitfted and neglected more times than I can count but it has always been a good truck. The only time my oil light has come on is when I neglected to do regular maintenance and went 12,000 miles between oil changes 3 or 4 times. Try doing an oil change unless it happens all the time in which case it is one of 2 things: Either the bearings are shot or the sending unit is defective either due to a bad unit itself or a shorted wire. The sender in most vehicles is a ground and the circuit only closes when the oil pressure is too low to keep it off it's seat. These are the basic things I would check. Unfortunately to get a proper diagnosis is not possible for me without actually seeing the truck. The check engine light is due to the fuel cap not being screwed on tight enough and happens with regularity on all OBDII vehicles.
