The Check Engine light will come on if you don't tighten the gas cap enough, yes. There is a sensor inside the fuel filler/tank system that detects whether the fuel system is leaking vapors or not. If the cap isn't tightened enough, the sensor will sometimes indicate that the fuel system is leaking vapors, which triggers the Check Engine light. I don't really know on your Brake light or your Oil light. Check connections to the oil pressure sensor and the ABS sensor in the rear. A broken or loose connector will do that to you.
