Mid Engined Nissan Hardbody :D

Hey Guys

I am just a young guys studying mechanics and for something fun to do I have been toying with the idea of putting a 5.7L 350 (can get an awesome deal on it with low km) into my 88 Kingcab. I love the truck but I really would like to hear a low rumble come from the pipes and have a little bit more power

My plan is to remove the box and relocate the gas tank. I then want to lengthen the frame and get new crossmembers made for the engine mounts. To keep the frame lengthening to a minimum I want to cut into the back of the cab and have my engine going between the cab and box. I will make a firewall to surround the engine as well.

I realize that there will be lots of challenges along the way, but if anyone knows if ANYONE has tried this before any help would be greatly appreciated.

Should handle pretty well when finished.

Not exactly, but there is a guy in Northern Virginia that has a 455 Olds mounted in the back of his pickup. It drives the rear tires through an Olds Toranado tranny. Stands wheelies and is one serious 1/4 mile machine. Has a lead bar in the engine bay to hold the front tires down. My dad's friend shoehorned a 350cid 385 hp GMPP plant into a Mitsu Mighty Max and irritates the local badasses with his taillights. Ladder racks, toolboxes, and bondo complete the look.

Several people around the US have stuffed a 350 into a Nissan, but nobody has really written up a definitive How-To because it's such a rarity and an expensive undertaking.
