Nope, don't think I have ever heard of any. Very early versions of Mobil 1 caused leaks in engines already prone to leaking because the PAO formula was not terribly kind to seals. They rectified this many years ago with the addition of mineral oil, then esters and alkylated aromatics as seal conditioners ... but the memories of problems persist.

Assuming it calls for some form of a 90 weight gear oil, it's hard to beat Red Line MT-90. You can get this from Summit Racing or myoilshop.com.

I switched from old Coastal gear oil to Pennzoil Synchromesh and no leaking whatsoever. '95 2WD manual 5-speed hardbody.

Thanks for the info guys . I was reading other threads about which oil is best and have decided to go with MT-90 redline. I just bought the truck a 3 weeks ago and going to change the trans oil. Does the diff oil require a change of oil every 15k miles or just check and refill.

Good deal.

Have the manual? That 15K seems a bit too often ... but a limited slip diff will darken/dirty the oil quicker than a plain diff. Look at the difference between the oil color in the front and rear diffs.

Assuming you don't submerge the punkins' regularly, you might want to change the rear (if limited slip) twice as often as the front.
