Two horns?

I am looking at replacing the wimpy horn on my '04 Pathfinder. I disconnected the one in front of the radiator (assumed it was the only one) and tried an aftermarket horn. It sounded like there were two different tones. Disconnected the aftermarket and hit the button again. Much to my surprise, there is a second horn under the hood somewhere (passenger side and not visible). Anybody know the scoop on this one?

I have tried the exact same thing with the same results. Still searching....
Jeff, could you confirm for me that your 04 LE has aluminum kick plates inside the door sills with Pathfinder logos in them. My 04 LE arrived without them, contrary to the printed specs. My dealer is working on getting them from Japan. 3 months and waiting. Thanks.

Yes, it has the aluminum kick plates. The horn thing makes no sense. The second horn is loctaed on the passenger side of the engine bay under the fuse box.

Many vehicles have at least two horns, for multiple notes. My Caddy has three horns. I think one is out on my Hardbody because it's the wimpiest sounding "beeeeeeep". It's really lame. Never got around to diagnosing that though. What aftermarket horn did you go with? I know where one is on my Hardbody...it's in the front bumper. I've never looked for another one.

It was one my dad had on hand. Not sure what it is (NAPA brand?). I did not care for the sound of it. I want something deep, like a GM or BMW sound.

I think some Cadillacs had dual-note and even tri-note horns. That may be in one unit, rather than multiple horns. Scour the junkyards. Pretty much any American car's horn is going to be loud and proud. I haven't heard anything like it from Japan, and I'm not sure why. Don't they have idiots on the road there too?

I grabbed one out of a 81 Impala and it's way better. Easy to install just lengthen the wire and you're good to go

Never seen another horn...

The top one is in front of the radiator and the bottom is under the fuse box. Do years 2003 and older have this same setup?

Jeff, would you mind taking a picture of your aluminum kick plates so that I can show my dealer. Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much Jeff. Apparently none of the 04 LE's in Canada came with the kick plates. My dealer has been working on this for almost 4 months trying to get a set from Japan. Thanks again!!

Does anyone know where the horn or horns are in the 93 hardbody? I looked in the places from the pics of the frontier, mine isn't there. I'm sure it'd be easier to find if it still worked.
