Misreading gas level

I'm having a little problem with my 92 Nissan Pickup. For some reason the gas gauge is reading incorrectly. The gas needle will move slowly to a half tank even if I fill up. Can you tell me what is wrong and whats the name of the part(s) I need to replace and the cost of it.

thank you.

Ok I had the same problem with my 88 Ranger but what I did was just change the float, worked perfectly after that.

Look under the carpet/vinyl in between the pass side seat and door. You will find a connector that gets corroded and causes the erroneous reading. It is a 8 wire?/white connector. Pay special attention to the small gauge black wire in the corner. You may also check the ground point. It is located on the pass side behind the kick panel. Write back with any questions.
