hi all,

What is the best manual to get for a Nissan Pathfinder? Is the service
really better than the other rubish out there and wheres the best place
to pick one up, either new or used? ebay?

thanks for playing twenty questions with me...

btw: Can one exchange an ECU assuming the same model year, and engine
size, 4wd pathfinder. Also is there a way to modify an ECU and sites that
tell you how? Hence the need for another ECU when you trash your original.

I'd go for the factory service manual from www.nissan-techinfo.com

You can download a copy as a .pdf with the one day viewing subscription for $20. Beats the heck out a Chiltons or Haynes. Just have plenty of time and a high speed connection.

As far as ECU mods, http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/ has some for the 95 Pathy... not sure about doing this DIY.

I use my Chilton's manual all the time. It has good info in it, even though other people don't think it's the best...but then again, I'm the type of DIY guy that can generally figure out how to disassemble and reassemble things from looking at or working with them.

The ECU would also have to be from a vehicle with the same transmission. You can't mod it yourself unless you know how these things work, the ROM chips are presoldered and aren't just plug-and-play. I've never seen any sites for modding Nissan Pathfinder ECU's.
