Tow dolly questions........

Posted something about towing a couple of months ago and thanks for everyone that replied with my question about "enough" power with my 4 banger.

Here's the situation and another couple of questions:

Moving back to Atlanta this summer. Have 3 cars, going to get rid of one so I'll have 2 cars. Don't want to drive the route twice (san diego to atlanta) --been there done that too many times. Anyhoo, I would like to tow a G20 Infiniti with my Frontier with a TOW DOLLY. This is the dolly that the holds the front wheels of the car on the dolly and the rear wheels of the car are on the ground.

MY QUESTIONS:

1. How stable is this setup for 2200 miles? I will be crusing at 55-65 MPH.
2. Although trailer brakes would be nice on the tow dolly (they are approx $300-$400 option) are they required?

Thanks in advance....
-Brian

1. I think it would be stable enough. Certainly, a tow TRAILER would be much safer and more secure, I wouldn't say the dolly would be unsafe, especially at speeds that low.

2. Even if the trailer brake option doubled the price of the dolly, I'd get it. No way are the brakes on your Frontier up to stopping your 3500 lbs. plus the 500 lb. dolly, plus the 2500 lb. G20. That's almost 7000 lbs., with cargo and anything else you might have there. If you get in an accident, you could be up sh*t creek without a paddle because your truck is overloaded, and any good lawyer is going to make you get your rig weighed. Never skimp on the safety features is my opinion. Get the trailer brakes.
