Hi,
You guys seem pretty knowlegable about Pathfinders so here it goes.
I have a 95 Pathfinder that had intermitent starting problem. The battery
was at least 4-5 years old so I replaced that thinking it was dying. I put
in and checked all cables. Everything seemed fine, but still no cranking just
a click from starter. So I figure its got to be a bad starter.
The problem is I have spent four days trying to get the starter out.
The cheap (read bad) Chiltons manual I got for my Pathfinder tells me
1. Disconnect Negative cable from Battery.
2. Disconnect Positive cable at Starter.
3. Disconnect Oil Pressure sending unit.
4. Drain oil and remove oil filter.
5. Remove Manifold heat shield.
6. Take out fuel line retaining screw (whatever)
7. Bang head against side of truck until bloody (just kidding, I hope)
Then remove starter by pulling it up out between engine and wheel well.
Did all of the above except 7.
The prob is there is no way starter fits between engine and wheel well.
Won't go up. Won't go down. Can't fit through engine mount and engine
to take it out forward. Transmission bell housing is in the way to take it
out through the back.
Did the manual forget to mention that I have to remove front engine assembly
Drop the transmission or what.
Please help!!!
