Just bought a 94 truck with KA24 engine and need to replace the distriibutor cap ( among other things)
The parts pages call for either a Mistu or Hitachi cap. How do you know which is which?

For ignition parts please, please, stick with Nissan parts! The aftermarket parts tend to cause more trouble than the savings (if any) are worth. I order my parts from Joe at www.everythingnissan.com - best to call at 1-888-216-5328. They're one of the sponsors of this site (or have been at some point).
You'll get a discount (wholsale) and know that you're getting the right stuff. Joe is a great guy to work with and can help with all kinds of useful information. I'd go ahead and replace wires and factory plugs at the same time if they haven't been done recently.

Yeah, I wonder why that is the only site that lists only one type of distributor for the KA24 on the 94 truck. Every other place I go lists Hitachi or Mitsubishi. So, back to the question- how do I tell which I have.
Thanks for the tip to the parsts place though.

You know... now that you mention it - I'm not sure that I didn't change types when I replaced mine. I remember that "vent" type thing at 9 o'clock on the the old one (that looks like the Hitachi), but the new one looked different. Truck performs fine though, so maybe they're interchangeable if you replace the rotor too? I'd still ask Joe - he can tell you if there's a supercession in the parts or if there's a difference between the two.

Thanks- It was Hitachi once I dusted off the cap. Next question in new thread
