does anyone know if there is a diagnostic mode selector screw on my 2000 Pathfinder?
I can't seem to find one. I've used a little mirror and everything, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot.
MY Service Engine Light came on today (solid). I checked everything, and the vehicle seems to be running fine. I cleaned the contacts for many things such as the oxygen sensor...
I drove around for a while after reseating my gas cap and the light never went off. I also disconnected my battery... but no luck.
Glad you found the screw, it definitely comes in handy. According to my 97 list I can't find the MIL 0510 code, probably a newer one that didn't exist back then. If you have a Haynes manual they have a good cross reference from the MIL to the P-code, maybe they have the 2000 list as well. I'll try to check my manual tonight.

You can also download a service manual (as a .pdf) for your Frontier with the one day "viewing" subscription at www.nissan-techinfo.com for $20. Be sure to get the TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) at the same time. This will take a while, even with a high speed connection - but it's well worth it.

ya, I downlaoded the manuals already... I just didn't find the info on how to convert the code. I got it now. Those manuals are great!
The engine light came back on.
I don't notice the vehicle running rich. I check to see if there are carbon deposits on tailpipe end, no extra smoke, and the spark plugs look fine. So maybe the problem is just starting to get worse. I did notice that everytime I open my gas cap, I hear a big hiss sound every single time. I'm not certain if it is a vacuum or is it depresurizing (yet). I wonder if this is related to my problem.
