Enlightened One? hahahaha. I came across these little power boxes on ebay myself. I asked my dad and thats what he told me. Though he may have said top end, I'll check that out for ya.

He was probably assuming the mods would work, and if so, adding too much power to your engine can put a strain on the engine's "bottom end", that is, the bearings, crank, connecting rods, wrist pins, pistons, etc.
You usually have to add a turbocharger or supercharger to end up with too much power. Most reputable ECU updates won't take the engine out of safety specs.
All that said, I believe that most of the little mods you can do (chips/resistors that alter air intake temp readings, filters, additives, etc.) won't do much of anything noticeable to your vehicle's power. I think you have to get into intake, exhaust, and cam changes to have a big effect on power. Now, if there was a good aftermarket ECU mod (like for performance cars), that would probably have a noticeable effect too. I don't know of anything for my 4-cyl, but I guess you guys with the v6s at least get headers and exhaust upgrades; probably cam & chip upgrades too.
Oh well, I won't be too envious, my 150HP is enough for me, especially when I get 25+ MPG

You should check out Truck Performance. They sell a Magnaflow exhaust for the 4cyl.

Thanks. I bookmarked that site a while back; they have some nice stuff.
They're one of the few places I've seen that has an exhaust for the Extended cab (assuming that's my King versus the Crew that everyone else caters to -- more popular I guess). Anyway, I guess I have to ask them what they mean by shortbed too. If it is the King Cab, I didn't think you could get the in the 50-something" bed, just the 74". I've left comments at some of the muffler places (like Borla) telling them I was interested in a system for mine, maybe others will do the same and there'll be enough demand to make one someday.
