Bosch Platinum Plugs, Mobil 1 in the engine and driveline. K&N's work well if you can keep your foot out of it. I can't...

All the magnets, tornadoes and stuff are pure bunk.

Your best bet is a good tune up, change the plugs, new filter, clean oil and fluids, clean the throttle body.

Then wash the truck, wax it, and admire how good it looks and how much more it would cost to buy a vehicle with only slightly better gas mileage.

k&n filter if WAI or CAI's are not avalable for your truck. a more free flowing exhaust will help too.

all this will help, but you need to keep the throtle off the floor (i cant)

this will help too, but i dont think it is legal... a bed cover or aerodinamic cab will help cut down on wind resistance which will help with MPG.

Switching to synthetic helps mileage a small amount, but everything counts.

Some of the basics of improved engine performance are improving air/fuel intake, improving removal of exhaust and reducing friction. Judiciously applied, all of these approaches improve performance and fuel economy at the same time. Thus, things like removing restrictions and/or improving amount of air entering the engine work (eg., hi-flow intake manifolds, hi-flow air filters, ram air, turbos, superchargers). Adding free flowing cat-back systems and headers improve removal of exhaust gases. Balancing and blueprinting engines (expensive) and running synthetics will reduce friction and increase power.

Cheers,
dagger

I saw a posting here where research was done to compare tailgate up, tailgate down, no tailgate, and tonneau cover. If I recall correctly, the tonneau was tops, followed by tailgate down. Tailgate up and no tailgate were dead even. Good Luck.
