My 03 Pathfinder has vibration in the steering wheel and seat at 20, 40-45, and 60-70 mph with rpms at 1500-2200 and light or no load on the gas. Most noticable at 20 mph and also on smooth roads. Dealer drove car and agreed but had no factory bulletins authorizing repair. Said this was normal. "Consumer Complaints dept" said they had no fixes for the problem and that my call was the first complaint. With the radio up, vibration is less noticable. Has any body else had more luck with this problem.
Thanks.
Boy, I'd just love to hear them describe to me how a vibration in the driveline could be normal. That means the factory either designed the vibration in (which they obviously didn't), or the dealer is too lazy to attempt to fix it (which is probably the case). Especially if your vehicle is under warranty, I'd be on the horn with any Nissan rep I would and demand that problem be fixed.

First of all the dealer service managers are trained to always say they have never heard of the problem before unless you have a TSB waiving in front of their face. But the TSB merely gives them a way to fix the problem, it doesn't mean that they can't fix it without a documented TSB. Go to the 1-800 Nissan customer service or ask for a regional rep, need to bump this up the ladder and keep good documentation of each time you take it in.
It's not that uncommon for a driveshaft to get a dent or loose a balancing weight and cause vibration, can't believe they are too lazy to even take a look.

I took it to another dealer tonight. They let me drive another new Pathfinder. It was worse than mine. I'm wondering if I should quit while I'm ahead. It makes me wonder if a Nissan will be my next vehicle.
I have also driven other new Pathfinders. I think they all may have the save vibration. If the factory doesn't take one of these cars and look at it will never get fixed. Dealers don't seem to be able to diagnose the problem on their own. Call the 1-800 Nissan number so I won't be the only one reporting this problem.
I have a 2002 Pathfinder and have the exact vibration at 60-65 MPH. I have had it at 2 dealerships and have had the same response with the service managers saying that is a "normal" vibration. This is no normal vibration, my 64 landcruiser doesn't vibrate like this. I have switched tires AND rims with my friend who has a 2001 Pathfinder and I have the same vibration while he still had none. If Nissan doesn't step up to the plate on this, I will never buy another Nissan again (have owned several in the past including a 95 Pathfinder with no vibration)! I am very disappointed how Nissan is refusing to deal with this issue. There is a service bulletin on a shimmy at 62MPH on the 2001 but not the 2002.
Good Luck and keep us informed. I am calling the 800# tomorrow. I suggest we all do the same.

Mine is in today for a louder than normal idle, and I went ahead and addressed the drivetrain vibration as well. I told them to rev it up to 2K, and hold it there, and they can feel the shaking. I want to love the Pathy, but I am having a hard time convincing myself to keep it under these circumstances. I just can't enjoy the ride.
Keep after them guys... my guess is that they're working on a fix now, but haven't figured it out yet, so it's easier to say it's "normal" - an old trick from the Ford playbook (except they don't actually ever try to fix it). Nissan sent hundreds of Japanese engineers to the new plant in Mississippi to figure out quality issues with the new models, so I'd think they'll address it.
Any chance you can get it up on a lift and have someone "drive" it at speed to see if it's something you can see (like driveshaft wobble?)

I wonder if this isn't the same basic problem that some of the older pickup trucks have. I have a 97 XE that has a terrible vibration from the throttle cable. It sounds like the instruments in the dash are going to pop out at specific rpm's. The fix is to isolate the cable before it enters the firewall. If the setup is the same in your Pathfinder, I wouldn't be surprised to see it have the same problem. Read post #25 in this thread; http://www.nissanforums.com/showthre...ht=capncavedan
