What is Silicon grease?

Clutch pedal is squeaking. I looked in Chilton, and it says to use Silicon lubricant on plastic contacts. I don't know what is Silicon lubricant.

Questions:

(1) Can I use WD-40 on the Clutch Pedal hinges? if not, then what kind of lube? Silicone?
(2) Is Silicon lube pasty or watery?

You could try WD-40. Silicone grease will be pasty...sort of like wheel bearing grease, if you've ever used that. Just go into Advance or AutoZone and ask for silicone grease (or something to lube a clutch pedal) and they'll hook you up with the right stuff.

Spray silicone is alot like wd-40 but I sticks better and might not penetrate as well....I use Prestone Spray silicone on my clutch pedal moving parts.

Yes, on plastic parts, silicone sprays work quite well. Heck, you could even use the silicone-based dressings like Westley's Black Magic. Another advantage dry lubes like silicone spray have is they don't migrate much once they are dried ... and they don't attract dirt the way a normal lubricating oil will.

Try not to get this on the face of the pedal or your foot will slip off easily.

This stuff is cheap and available everywhere. I don't believe brand matters much, if at all.

Oh, and don't get me started on WD-40 ... or should I say scented kerosene?
