Some idiot sat on the hood of my truck and put a nice bend in it. Took it to the body shop, and they can't fix it and make it look good, they've got to replace it. Going to cost ~$1050, but the hood itself is going to cost ~$350 of that. The insurance is going to pay for it (they'll do their own estimate and write me a check), so I was thinking I could pocket some of the money by buying a hood for the shop to put on. I found some stock hood for $120. But I was wondering maybe if I could get a hood with cowl induction/ram air scoops on it. I know it wouldn't do any good on my truck, but it would look good. I've searched all through google and can't find any for a 2000. 4x4 Parts has them for 2001^, but that won't work.
Check with Joe at www.everythingnissan.com for a discount on the stock hood or www.car-part.com for used. It would be great if you could find one in good condition with the same paint color and just bolt it on - but that's asking for a lot I know.
Your insurance Co. may try to stick you with an aftermarket part - there are a lot of them available for the D21 style truck, but I'm not sure on the Frontier.

53K miles (not even broke in) and excellent, almost brand new shape. Other than this, the body and paint are excellent, except for a small scratch on the bottom of the drivers door and on the bed rail. So I definitely am going to get it fixed, even if I have to pay for part of it out of my own pocket.
I'll check those sites, thanks Heath. And I'm also going to check around at the local wrecking yards and see if they have a Frontier that has side or rear damage with a good hood on it.
when I hit this mexican dude driving a tacoma I was able to find a rear bumper for him for half of what the dealer was asking... its a nationwide search and isn't too much trouble... might as well look
