Question Rancho Rs5000

I just Bought some rancho rs 5000 Shocks for my 95 Pickup. Well They seem to Give a really Crappy ride after 3 months of use. I put Maybe 4500 Miles on them. MY truck sways back and Fourth more than it should. It didnt do that when i first got the shocks. I Noticed this starting to happen 3 weeks ago it just gets worse. my Tire pressure is fine. Are the rancho's Supposed to be a Good Shock?! All iheard was awesome things about those Shocks and yet I get a crappy ride 3 months later. Any Opinions would be Helpfull. I am going to do a warranty exchange if i can and get new ones. But this summer If someone tells me a godo Shock that Wont Die after 3 months of use let me know Because Chnaging the Shocks is a Pain.. I had Monroe Sensa tracks on my Old ford ranger and they Rode as good as the day i got them.

THey should be decent shocks, ranchos are in the good for the money catagory. Rancho and bilstien are about the only really decent shocks avalible for our trucks. The RS9000 series is a lot better, the valving is much better. Its variable, stiff on road, softer off road.

Then I Must Of Got some bad Shocks because They definatly Give me a Floaty ride. What about the Stock shocks. what Kind were they on the nissan trucks back in 95? What kind of Shocks do you have? Does your Truck Have a swaying Motion when you are driving on the road? SHould I return the Shocks and Give them 1 more try? It seems to be More in the Front more than anything. I have checked the Joints and there is nothing worn.

Werewolf, what part numbers did you get for your truck?

I'm running RS5606 on the front and I'm very happy with them. I've had them on since last summer/fall and they're very nice. And as you can tell, I'm pretty picky about shocks and how a vehicle rides...and I'm pleased with the front shocks. They ride "plush" off-road and really soak up the bumps well.

I just yanked off the back shocks that I had on there for no more than 20 miles. They were RS5113. They were WAY too stiff, no question about it. Rancho says that's the correct number for the Nissan truck, but they really missed the call there. Nissan is about the only compact truck among the application listing for that part number -- everything else is a full size domestic from a few decades ago (including 1-ton GMCs). No way is that shock correct for a compact Nissan truck. I took 'em back to Advance yesterday and they took 'em back as defects, and ordered me a pair of the RS5601 shocks. The Rancho customer support tech told me those are valved lighter than the 5113s and are dimensionally equivalent. The app. guide for those shocks includes nothing but light duty trucks (Nissans, Isuzus, Toyotas), so I'm confident I'll like these a lot better. I pick 'em up tonight.

I'm determined to use Rancho shocks -- I've never heard a bad thing about Rancho shocks, and they have a lifetime warranty. My family has used Rancho in the past with great success. I just need to find one that works well on the truck. And, if you were happy with the ride and handling with the 5000 series shocks when new, you should still be happy with them now. If they've gotten sloppy, it'd be because of a factory defect. I wouldn't have any reservations about taking them back and asking for a replacement pair. Unless of course you want to go up market to the 9000 shocks, which are pretty neat (dad had a set on a Ford F-550).

Anyway, please tell me what part numbers you're running now...I'm curious.

Talking

I am now in the market to upgrade the rear suspension of my 95 pathy and in the near future the front. I haven't heard much about the old man emu shocks. Are they any good? They are about 70 a piece so I am wondering if I would be better off purchasing the rs9000's or the rsx9000's. Which by the way I don't know what the difference is.
Lastly I what to know what rear spring you guys recommend? Should I get the Old man Emu or Nissan Motorsports or AC or what?
Thanks for the info.
and sorry for hijacking the thread.

Not to many people run the OME stuff. Nissan Motrosport springs are made by rancho. The RSX9000 shocks are external and remotly adjustable.
