cracking exhaust manifold on ka24e

Today i was taking my heat shield off of my 97 HB 4x4 because it looks bad and i was gonna paint it, when i got it about half way off i noticed the exhaust manifold had about a 2 inch crack and two smaller cracks in it. Has anyone else had this problem and how serious is it? will it tear up anything else if it isn't fixed? i was thinking about getting a header anyway but i have heard that they dont fit good, has anyone installed one?

[Hey man do a search and read my posts. I went through the same exact thing as you, now i have the header, ect. Hope that helps
