What modification should I do first?

I just purchased my 1993 KingCab 4x4 (4 cylinder) and I'm so dang eager to fix it up!

I do need to do general things first like a tune-up, just to make me feel more secure out there on the road. But other than that, what things are a good idea or will make my ride fun?

I want to do what most guys probably want to do: Lift Kits, Rims, Tires, Roll Bar, Lights, etc etc etc.

What do you all suggest? What is more cost effective as far as doing FIRST?
Any and all suggestions are welcome.......but I'm not rich, so don't go overboard on what you would do with a million bucks, just what you would do piece by piece.

Thanks.
Clay

if you want to do it cheap go with a body lift and some tires on the stock rims.

Even though I want to (and most likely will) get a body lift, the mechanic I go to said that it's bad on the hoses and wires cause it stretches them. Any ideas around this?

Any other suggestions for upgrades / modifications?

Get a REAL lift (a suspension lift). In my opinion, a body lift is only necessary, and beneficial, if you've already lifted your suspension to the max and you have tires that you STILL can't fit under the fenders. If you're just doing it for looks, I think you'll get more laughs than compliments. Just my experience/opinion.

Tune the thing up and do a basic suspension lift if you're into that. It can get expensive quick, so go slow. Maybe start with a torsion bar adjustment to "adjust" the ride height in the front an inch or two. You won't even need longer shocks for that. Put a shackle kit in the rear or a spring add-a-leaf (might need longer shocks there). Your truck will already easily fit 31" tires as it sits now (assuming everything is up to snuff), so if you really want the bigger tires, you can go up to that size without having to modify anything.

As far as the engine, I'd leave it alone. I doubt anything simple you can do will make an appreciable difference. Maybe a header and exhaust system and a freer flowing intake. But I wouldn't bother with an intake modification until you've opened up the exhaust some.
