How do your 2001 Pathfinder keyless locks work?

The reason I'm asking is I have a 2001 Pathfinder SE and when I start up the
truck the locks don't lock themselves. And when I shut it off, the locks don't
automatically unlock.

Every other vehicle I've driven with keyless entry works that way and even
aftermarket kits I've used.

Tell me how your keyless entry works when you start or turn off your
Pathfinder. The service people at my local Nissan had no clue and nothing is
in the manual.

Thanks!

Working just fine----its a Nissan-----not an American car.

As an aside----it just drives me bananas when I get in someone else's car and the doors lock themselves.

I was afraid that was the answer. Blah.

I guess I could always add an aftermarket kit.

Thanks for the info, though!

You're safer in the vehicle with locked doors for a variety of reasons. 1) Nobody can get in. 2) The doors are less likely to come open during an accident. Many cars have this feature, including Japanese and European cars (like my mother-in-law's Camry). I bet there's a kit out there that you could install that will automatically lock the doors in a drive gear and unlock them in park.
