Swapping Front Buckets Left to Right?

Hey guys:

After 183k miles, the driver seat on my truck is, shall we say, less than fluffy. It's like sitting on a wet board actually. The passenger side seat is still somewhat cushy. I noticed the brackets are different that mount the seats on the floor, but what about above that? Can I unbolt the seats from the brackets and swap them, left to right? The only adjustments on my seats are fore/aft with the front lever and the recline with the side lever. I don't mind if the side lever stays were it is and ends on on the inboard sides of the seats, and the front lever should be happy on either side of the shifter.

Can I remove the seats, swap the brackets, and bolt 'em back in?

Thanks in advance,

Good question! I thought of this on the Q, but the different trim on the sides of the seats made it difficult. An easy way to check w/o pulling the seats is to call Joe at www.everythingnissan.com (1-888-216-5328) and have him pull the p/n for both seat bottoms. If they're the same, you're set. My guess is that you have a good chance of unbolting the seat bottoms from the tracks and then swapping them - but I have a bench seat, so there's no real-world experience here.

I too thought about this as I have 210,000 miles on my 98 Frontier and the cloth is a little worn where I get in and out a lot. However, it is not possible on my truck because the seatbelt buckle is bolted to the seat and would render it inoperable. I am thinking of going to a junkyard and getting another seat from another Frontier or a set of leather buckets out of a Pathfinder.
