93 pickup - brake lights out - replaced stop lamp switch and bulbs

93 pickup - brake lights out - replaced stop lamp switch and bulbs.

It seems that when the brake lights first stopped working, they DID still work when the lights were on (at night I had brake lights). Now the brake lights don't work at all. Replaced stop lamp switch and bulbs....not sure what to do next.

Have you checked the sub harness connection right behind the bumper? Also check all connections for corrosion. You might check the voltage at the subharness connector too. Maybe someone used taps to hook up a trailer connector and they finally ate through the wire?

If you're referring to the stop switch as the one behind the brake pedal, this is what went out on me-kinda. The plastic stopper in the arm of the brake petal that touches the switch when the brake pedal is depressed broke on me. When I would press the brake pedal, the hole in the arm of the pedal that normally houses the plastic stopper was empty and would allow the plunger of the stop switch to go through the pedal arm and not activate. I put bolt and a nut through the empty hole and now I have brake lights again. I hope I explained this well. Check your brake petal arm and see if you have the plastic stopper. Good Luck. LL
