I own an 87 Nissan PathFinder SE V6 and I'm actually looking to part it out to anyone would is interested.

Honestly, I love the vehicle. It has 210K miles and the 3 speed trans is completely worn out. I have been nursing it along for a while now and it has finally quit. I still have first gear but second and third only come every once in a while. Reverse is also on and off. It's rather amusing actually.

But there is something to say for a car that holds together as well as mine has. I've always taken good car of it. That's why I am upset about it's current situation. Its frame and driveline, excluding the trans, is the strongest I have ever seen or experienced. The engine, having been completely rebuilt at 144K is strong as well.

I'm torn between replacing the trans with what?, or just getting rid of it. But who would want it? I'm on this forum because I'm offering any part off of it that someone would need. I'm not sure if there is a demand for these parts but what the heck?

So i'll see if I get some responses for parts or I maybe I'll have someone offer me a trans for it. What i'd really like to do is get the 90's 4 speed trans and the brain, and driveshafts that i would need to make it work in my pathfinder. But I think that is a stretch.

Whew, I could go on and on about it. It's very interesting to find people that have come together in a forum to talk about 87 pathfinders. Pretty cool.

Well I'll talk to you again.

Thumbs up

Very reliable vehicles. I own two XE '87 V6's, one has over 200,000 miles on it and has only left me stranded a couple times due to starter and distributor problems. The are a few design flaws: my wife found out the Pathfinder will roll over. Replacing the pneumatic cylinders on the hatch door can mangle your hand. ( I should have read the instuctions that stated "Do Not Attempt This Alone") The oil filter, water pump, timing belt, and starter are difficult to replace. The 3 speed automatic transmission doesn't have OD so you're turning some serious revs at 70 mph. The sun has bent the speedometer needles and they stick on both mine so I have to use the rpm gauge. The drive train and suspension is built like a panzer tank. I installed a three point hitch with hydraulic lift on my Pathfinder with the 5 speed manual transmission and use it as a tractor. I have dug ditches and plowed gardens with it. When I do burn my hand on the exaust manifold changing the oil filter I just yell Jap two or three times, partially fill my new filter with oil so as not to get air in the hydraulic valve lifters (some oil will spill on the starter though) and make another succsessful beer run in my pinnacle of Japanese technology.
