1997 pathfinder rear clunk from a stop

Since it has gotten colder out, I am experiencing an intermittent problem with the vehicle hesitating to move when accererating from a stop, as the rpm
is increased I hear a clunk noise from the rear then it starts to move, seems to be better as it warms up. I am also having a intermittent check engine light come on, no drivability problems, then in a few days it goes off. I heard of issues with gas caps. Besides getting a replacement from a dealer, is there any other sources for OEM nissan parts. Also how can I tell if vehicle has lsd vs standard differential. Any help appreciated

You possibly have a broken spider gears maybe from offroading really hard or burnouts? maybe just old? when was the last time you changed the gear lube? all things you can check i personally have broken three rearends in my race/street car and when it clunks somtimes its natural somtimes it isnt .........also could be from your limited slip/locker/posi unit? just my .02 cents

Get the code read if possible, that will point you in the right direction. Also the LSDs usually had a small bright orange sticker on the back or underside of the pumpkin which can get covered up by dirt.

You can also check the ID Mark on top of the rear differential, you'll probably need a mirror to see the code which is stamped in white paint.

ID Mark Gear Ratio
CR 4.363
CT 4.363 LSD
CV 4.636
CX 4.636 LSD
