The service light went out.. and hasn't come back.. confused.. but seems like it is sorta back to normal.
With some codes, it may be that the computer doesn't see the problem anymore and turns the light off. With OBD-II codes, there are "current" codes and there are "history" codes. For example, the instant a code sets, it's a current code, and unless the computer knows otherwise, the code stays current until the diagnostic test that originally set the fault returns true...then the code changes to a history code, but the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light; "check engine light") will stay on until a specified number of cycles or tests occurs without fault again...then the MIL will go out.
I reread my original post, and there is another by USCBoy..
I have a quick question.. I paid my 20 bucks or so for access to the Nissan-Tech pages.. But not sure how to download the pdf.. seems when I created a user account there is nothing in my basket or profile..
Nissan only sent me a Purchase Order receipt, and I was hoping that there was a key you enter but this is not the case.. I left a message at nissan but due to the weekend I will have to follow-up.. Prior to that can anyone advise..
Also
Has anyone else swapped out the soleniod.. How easy or difficult..
Best place to get new one??
Thanks..

Need a little help determining the problem with our new 2001 Pathfinder LE model..
Right before Xmas, the wife and I headed down the east coast to FL from NJ, at around NC I put gas and about 45 miles later I got a sevice engine soon light. At first I thought it could have been a loose gas cap, but I checked that it was on tight.. During the trip I switched from running 93 octane to 89, in an effort to save a little on the highway.. figured I would note this..
When I arrived to floriday, I headed to Autozone to have the code pulled and errased.. the CODE he have me was P1135 Manufacture Control, Fuel air metering.. or something very similiar.. After he pulled the code, I changed back to 93 for a complete tank and some, with no problem.. When I headed back again around NC/SC I put 89 and shortly after I got the darn light again.. When I returned had it pulled and it is the same P1135..
Not being an expert, I have the following thoughts..
-Probably not the gas cap.. Even though I did accidently drop it.. maybe?
-Possible changing of Octane.
-Possible water in fuel, or just bad fuel..
Did read about O2 sensors, but I have no idea..
Any help or suggestions are appreciated, and if you can point me the right direction, even better.. The car just got out of its warranty period, and Nissan want like 90 dollars per hour to diagnostic, and who knows what else

New to forum. I am having the same problem as above with my 2001 Pathfinder. I have already had the code reset once and the light has come on again (after a month or 6 weeks). Has anyone found the fix? Thanks.
This is where I bought my OBDII reader. I will email them about the typo....
This should not be a Nissan only code. OBDII is a Industry std.
It's not a typo, OBDII codes P1000 and higher can be manufacturer specific, meaning there is a standard OBDII P1135 code that your code reader correctly read, but Nissan has a different meaning for that code. Not a problem.

P1135 is for the intake variable timing sensor bank 2, or the left side of the engine (your right when you are looking at the engine head on).
You will need to replace the intake variable timing sensor for bank 2, but I recommend replacing both sensors (bank 1 and bank 2). They are both the same part number and will fit on either side. Do not mistake these for the Camshaft position sensors. Also, the timing sensors are relatively inexpensive, usually about $75 per side. In some cases you won't feel any difference in power, but in extreme cases this will cause a lack of power or pinging when accelerating or downshifting/passing at highway speeds.
