I was looking at the se v6 4x4. for my trucks year. It says it has LSD. What is the part that gives it LSD?
In 1995, LSD was optional on XE-V6 and standard on SE-V6. LSD stands for Limited Slip Differential and it's just that -- a different differential which tries to equalize power between the two wheels on that axle. Look at your axle -- there's a differential carrier mounted to the front of the large axle tube with 12-15 bolts (forgot exactly how many). The driveshaft connects to the front of the differential carrier. Easiest way to switch to an LSD is to swap the differential carrier for one with limited slip.

i want it. My truck doesnt have it. I figure it may make a little diffrence in the winter and when i am off roading
I makes a big difference.. I love it. You have to be carefull though, becuase if I accelerate too fast in the rain or ice/snow still both rear tires spin the whole back of vehicle slides sideways suddenly. Instead of just spinning one wheel and not moving anywhere.
Real easy to do a donut in the snow/ice...

It will look the same from the ouside. the LSD is what holds the ring gear in place.
Look for a sticker on the dif near the fill plug. The is a letter in the VIN I think that says LSD also I believe. Or the sticker on the door jam. I can look that up tonight. I have several FSMs.

I really wouldnt want to put one in myself, as gears can be touchy, and I dont want to mess up the lash really bad, like I more than likely would. How much does it cost on average for a shop to install something like this?

Not sure. But I know some people just replace the carrier without effecting the lash..
I have paid $200 to have 4.88 installed in my old 85 rearend. But that was 8 years ago..
try calling some local 4x shops .. like Four wheel parts wholesalers...

Does anybody know if the LSD came installed on the 94 se v6 4x4? if so how can u tell? i was told to lift both rear tires in the air and spin one of them by hand if the other one spins in the same direction i have LSD, i did try it and according to this theory i have LSD is this correct?

Maybe. Was your transmission in neutral or in a drive gear (or park)? To be sure, put the transmission in a drive gear or park and try to spin one wheel again. If it's really hard to spin it, you probably have LSD. If you can spin it easily, and the other wheel spins in the opposite direction, you probably have an open differential (or a weak/tired LSD unit).
The reason I suggest trying to do it with the transmission in gear or in park is because if it was in neutral, there may not have been enough resistance in the driveline to force the differential action in the pig. If you lock the driveshaft (via putting the tranny in gear or in park), you FORCE the differential to work, and then you'll be able to tell pretty easily. Also check for a tag on one of the bolts that secures the pig (the center section) to the axle. If it there are no tags, you most likely don't have LSD.
