What is the diffrence in these sizes My truck is a 1995 and it has 235/75-15 (Original Equipment 235/75-15 )the optional is the ones Below.
What would be the diffrence? what did they mean by optional?
Original Equipment Optional 31X10.5-15
The optional tires are larger off-road tires and were optional on XE-V6 and standard on SE-V6 trucks.
Your 235/75/15 tires are 235mm wide (the section width -- not the tread width), the sidewall height is 75% of the section width, and fit a 15" diameter wheel. Do the math and this tire is nominally about 29" tall.
The 31x10.50/15 tires are 31" tall, have a section width of 10.50", and fit a 15" diameter wheel. It's just a different method for measuring tires. If you wanted to convert it to a metric measurement (like the 235/75) for comparison, it'd be about 265/75/15. The 31x10.50 is a common light-truck off-road tire size. Others include 30x9.50 and 32x11.50.
I couldn't really tell ya, maybe some of these other guys could? Not much if any at all. I can't tell a difference in power loss or anything. Maybe 2-3 mph if anything at all!!
Your truck looks like it is in Excelent condition. Mines starting to rust. small place under the door. and my step bars are rusting i am going to take them off and repaint them this summer. Are the tires alot wider than the 235's and taller?

Yeah I lucked out my truck is in great condition, no rust or anything. I guess the worst thing is a few scratches on the paint. Anyways, back to the tires.
As far as Width: The 31X10.50's are MUCH wider than 235's. 31X10.50's are about the same as 265/70/15's .. 265's are MUCH MUCH wider than 235's!
As far as Height: I think the stock tires are actually 235/75/15's with 75 being the tire height. If you got 31X10.50's they are technically 70's (if you convert it out of metric) and not suppose to be as tall, but on my truck it actually raised it up! I dunno.. may be the deep tread or something! Gave it the lift and look I wanted though
I'm not a tire expert so I cant give you super details, only my personal experience. Hope this helps. All I can tell you is this.. If your running stock tires now and move to 31X10.50's it's gonne leave you with your jaw dropped. You'll be amazed at the difference! By the way BF Goodrich tires are EXPENSIVE!! haha!
I priced them at Town fair tire for the Normal size p 235 at 104 a piece. my toyo A/t were Slightly More . this was a year and a half ago i knwo the size diffrence will raise The bill . I dont care. summer time or spring i will need new tires. so then ill get the tires i want.:-) the tires do make the trucks look taller i was looking at the SE models and they have those tires and they are slighty taller

You may want to consider Yokohamas or Kumhos. That are allot cheaper and are highly rated. I have only used Yokohamas on my Quest. I love Bridgestone Duelers, but more expensive than BFG's.
I think I am going to try Yokohamas this year on my Pathy.
Check out tirerack.com great prices. Thats where I bought my tires from now. BFGs are usually pretty cheap because they are always on sale somewhere...

Go to Sams (if you're a member). BFGs there are $109 each (in 31x10.50 size) plus $9/tire for roadhazard warranty. About $120 each out the door (plus your local taxes). Can't beat that with a stick.
. i paid like 120 for my toyo's at town fair tire and there only 235/75-15 . and yes i have a sams club card I am a buisness member :-) i wont be getting tires till at least summer time. my tires are good enough for winter and thats it. i go through tires every year and a half to 2 years.
Thanks for the info though

I put the 31x10.50 15 size on my truck and the speedo is off about 10%. True 60mph reads about 54mph on my speedo. 55mph reads about 49mph. 70 reads about 63mph and so on.
I like the size though. I picked the Bridgestone Dueler AT which were pretty expensive but worth it I think. If I didn't get those, I would've picked the BFGs. I was gonna get the speedo calibrated, but the speedo shop said it couldn't be done with this type of speedo.
