Modern vehicles need very little, if any, formal break-in. Just drive it normally for the first 500 miles, and try not to run it WOT for any period of time (don't take it to the dragstrip) and try not to run it at the same speed for any period of time (don't drive it across the country). Other than that, just drive normally. After the first 500-1000 miles, all should be well.

Fuel Consumption

My first post ! ! !
My first question is about the break in period. I have a 2003 Pathfinder SE 4x4. I purchased on 12/05/03 and it now has 1,000 miles. It seems as though I am only getting 8-10 MPG when using 2 wheel drive. I know it should be better then this. Somewhere around 16 - 21 MPG if I am correct. No I have not beat on the car I only drive it when my 8 month daughter is in the car. I have been putting in 89 Octane Gas.
