Question Proper Anti-seize compound - O2 sensor

Hi Guys,

Just another quick question about my O2 sensor install (Jadcock - I haven't tried your "tapper" yet - looks cool and I would like to install one of those).

But in the meantime, you guys were saying to make sure I use a proper anti-seize on my sensor. I used Permatex - the silver colored stuff in the grey bottle. See this web page.

http://www.permatex.com/products/pro...&item_no=81464

It does not say anything about being used for sensors. Or should I use something like this - it says it is used for sensors).

http://www.permatex.com/products/pro...&item_no=09126

Could it be that my sensor is not properly connecting with the exhaust system because of the wrong anti-seize compound?

Your opinions please...Thanks.

Interesting... I used the permatex on the OEM sensors in my Q45, with no problems. The service manual didn't say to use the anti-seize, but since I had to replace that "nut" that the sensor screws into (old threads seized) I thought it was a good idea. Then, the sensor I just put in my truck in September (Denso "first time fit" from www.sparkplugs.com) came with a small pack of copper colored antiseize. I just tried to make sure I didn't get it on the sensor tip itself... only on the threads.

I can't imagine that it would be causing a problem with the function of the sensor.

Any luck getting the ECU into the O2 sensor test mode yet?

Heath

Thanks Heath,

No, I haven't played with the ECU yet. Actually, my wife and I are busy packing and preparing for a move that we're doing in November, so work on the vehicles is on an "as needed" basis only right now.

So as long as things are running smoothly, I might just leave it for now. But I think I will get some different anti-seize and remove/clean the new sensor and reinstall it. I want to do this before it's been in there too long and gets difficult to remove.

I'll keep in touch.
