Well I took My alternator off my truck tonight. I was kinda supprized to see it come off so easy. At least something was easy to take off this truck. I am going to have my Alternator rebuilt By someone down the road from where i work. I am driving a 95 Chevy Cavelier z24. I miss my truckkkkkkkk. I should have it back in a day. I hope. Im kinda Low on cash i dont have 112 bucks for a new one. Even the aftermarkets are wayy outa my reach right now.> So this is the best way to go for now.

All the 4x4s came with triple skid plates, although none to my knowledge with step bars from the factory (they were a dealer accessory). I'd like to get some rock sliders for mine, but that'll be a ways down the road.
yeh lol. No sorry i have no pics. My truck is still acting up . the guy said the brushes were shot in my alternator. So he "supposivly" replaced them. my lights are still dim like the alternator isnt working. so now i have to pull it back off and check to see if he did replace the brushes. If not ill be up his @ss. what else could it be it is Intermitent lights are bright then they go dim. for no reason.i guess one way to find out is to take it apart so that is what i will do. Its not fun to take it off.

The stock alternator output is in the 60-80 amp range, so I'm sure the voltage regulator is internal to the alternator. That would be my next guess. It doesn't sound like you got a complete rebuild; I think that consists of more than simply new brushes. I don't know, though, if a rebuild includes a new voltage regulator. I think that part usually costs close to what a reman'ed alternator costs, which is why folks usually just trade theirs in. The voltage regulator and the diode tree are the only things in the alternator that are really serviceable I think. Have your guy check both of those.
he charged me 75 bucks so he better of fixed it correctly. i am gunna check the contacts on my alt as well. they may be dirty. but other than that i am a little anoyed

Werewolfmage,
I also have a 1995 Hardbody 4x4 V6 K/C A/T with 76000 miles on it, original owner. About two months ago my alternator went up. I went to an auto electrical repair shop and had a reman alternator installed. I had to take the truck back twice as the two ProStart brand alternators went bad with in a month. I advised the shop owner not to install any more Prostart alternators. The third time they installed a reman Bosch alternator. So far no problems. How many miles on your truck when your alternator went up? Is this a common problem with Nissan's?
Good Luck
My truck has 99,600 and it went up like 200 miles ago.that is a weeks worth of Driving for me. I mean I really like my truck. But damn its just a pain to take the alt off. just to see if it was really fixed. Because ill be driving down the road no bumps nothing and my dash lights head lights wipers will get really slow. showing its running off the batt and for no reason the alternator will start to work and then Cut out. it started doing this like 200miles ago. . I had him check it he said it was the brushes. i said ok replace what is needed. well i got it in my truck drove it 4 miles and it started to act up. same problem again. I will check the alternator connections Make sure there nice and clean But ir eally Doupt it will make a diffrence. Its my alternator. I am going to hook a meter up to my alt to see if the voltage is Constant. If not then the alt went bad or he didnt fix it. one way or another i will have this truck working right.

yet again i take my alt off after putting it back on to find out he didnt replace the voltage regulator . this sucks. he charged me 75 bucks i said how much more will this cost he said we will work something out. i said um better be free you are supposed to replace it when you rebuilt a alt. The alt that comes stock is a hitachi 70 amp alt. i had like a 160 amp on my 92 ranger 4x4. It wasnt stock. I wish i could of used that alt on this truck. It would of been Sweet.
