My 1986 Nissan Pick-up has an electrical problem.

My Truck was manufactured 7/85. It is a 4 cylinder with two sets of plugs. Exhaust and Ignition. Starts and runs great. 5 miles down the road it quits.
All power gone except to the starter. After 1 minute it starst and runs fine. I have done a lot of trouble shooting including changing battery, grounds, wiring harness to the alternator. cleaning signal light terminals and more. I have 7 vehicles and this one has 250K on it and still runs well. I would like to find a fix. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

After it quits and you try to re-start it, in the on postion do you get the idiots lights lighting up?

When you say all power to the starter, does it click when you turn the key? Turn over?

Yes the idiot lights on the dash light up.
I stated Except the power to the starter.
I can turn the starter over but no ingition. After a one or two minute wait (sitting in the middle on the road, yuk, sometimes at night, double yuk )it will start and all power returns as if by magic. GREMLINS I TELL YOU!
What do you think?

Sounds like a heat problem in the ignition electronics. Kinda like the old GM's did. Is it a bad coil wire? Loose connection? I wish you the best of luck.
