I'll introduce myself first since I don't spend much time in this particular forum. I am one of the administrators for nissanforums.com.
When this Truck & SUV forum was initially created we didn't create specific forums for each model because there was not much traffic at the time. Over the past year that has changed, so wanted to ask the members here their opinion and feedback on possibly subdividing this section.
I would like to keep the sections relatively generalized for ease of navigation. I also don't think getting really specific and creating individual forums for each vehicle generation would be very efficient. For now would sections for Pickups and Pathfinder be sufficient? With a "General" section for other models that aren't discussed here as much?
Scott, thanks for the note. I personally think it's great the way it is. One of my biggest frustrations with the dedicated Nissan 4x4 boards (and one of the reasons I like to stay HERE) is the forum is subdivided way too much. I like this board because the truck section is all together, which makes sense to me because for at least half of the modern era, they were built on the same platform with the same drivetrain. I don't see a problem with leaving things as they are, but of course, this is just one opinion (and the only opinion on record for now). What do others think?
Jason, doesn't look like too many people have an opinion.
I'll leave this thread here a couple more days so people have a chance to respond. If no one else does, I'll leave the forum as is since that's your preference and it seems to work well.
I agree with Jason on this. As he said, the D21 (Hardbodys) and Wd21 ('87-'95 Pathfinders) share the same platform pretty much.
When the amount of traffic increases with questions focused on the newer Pathys (R50's), Frontiers and Xterras (the latter share the same platform too) perhaps then this could be re-visited?
If you so decide to subdivide, and I, for one disagree with it, then do it by year. Pre 86.5's, 86.5's to 97?, 98-03 or something like it. Just keep it relevant. I like the site, as you can tell by my posts. I like getting emails showing that someone has answered or added to a post I have engaged in. There are alot of people here that have a vast wealth of information. There are also enthusiasts that bleed Nissan. Don't change it too much. You might alienate them (and me).

I also like it the way it is. I have a 97 pathfinder and 03 Xterra so it is nice to have all the info in one forum. Since a lot of the info is similar between trucks and SUVs I often come across things I hadn't known about before but that apply to my vehicles as well.
yeah, i might be late
but I agree, that models shuold be divided in years
because, as has already been pointed out, models and drivetrains are made in strains....so it seems most logical to put them together, as the majority of the problems and hints can be directed with the correct year it fits in....
it might be jumbly to understand, its late
I actually like it the way it is now. So many of the engines, interiors, and misc parts interchange between the pathfinder and the truck. I don't mind sharing board time with my 4x4 or SUV brethern. My $.02

Being a Sentra Spec-V owner and spending some time in those sub-divided sections, I went looking for the "Xterra" section one day ... and was surprised when I couldn't find it.
But, I think it's fine, having ALL the truck and SUV guys in the same place ... I'd just change the name to say that:
